Project
To design and supply six Bespoke Stainless-Steel enclosures.
Solution
We were first approached by James Duffin, Senior Lighting Designer at Enerveo, in December 2020 with a request to propose a design and initial costings for 6 x Bespoke Stainless-Steel enclosures to include the facility to accommodate a number of floodlights. These were to enable lighting of the 23-metre tall, Grade II* listed monument, built in 1845 in honour of Admiral Lord Collingwood,
Having previously worked with James, he was aware of our capabilities in design, fabrication, and engineering and thus we were chosen to propose a solution in keeping with this sensitive location.
Our highly skilled Design and Engineering Team set to work on designing an initial proposal which was duly presented. Due to the complexity and sensitivity of the site, material selection was crucial to ensure it suitability for the hostile coastal environment, along with the special Marine Grade powder coating to ensure longevity.
As would be expected, there were a number of interested parties involved in the decision process and in order to ensure that all parties were happy, we made some small modifications to our initial design. Once presented, our modified design was fully approved, and the process of manufacturing at our Andover factory commenced and the goods were delivered in September 2023.
Enerveo completed the Lighting installation and due to their superb attention to detail, produced an effect that exactly matched the Client’s brief.
This was an amazing project to be involved with and once again, demonstrated our ability to design and manufacture products to exact customer specifications (all from our Hampshire factory), and our commitment to working in collaboration with our customers to achieve and often surpass, the desired outcome.
One of the keys to success in any project is the collaborative relationship between the parties. The regular communications between the Senior Lighting Designer and Pudsey Diamond Engineering ensured the project was completed in an efficient manner and ensured this iconic location was returned to its former glory.
Key Project Requirements:
Prepare design proposal based on the original brief of December 2020.
Work with the Senior Lighting Designer to modify the design to suit the lighting requirements and ensure the enclosures, whilst key to the project, merged into the surroundings.
Manufacture and deliver six vandal-resistant stainless-steel enclosures, finished in the specified RAL colour, to ensure the longevity of the lighting.
Enerveo comments:
“We have engaged with Pudsey Diamond on a number of previous projects, and they never fail to deliver. The team are superb at creating a truly bespoke solution for complex projects such as Collingwood Monument.
“The enclosure created by them was of very high-quality materials and we were impressed with the paint finish. It was also noted by our team that the pillars were very easy to install.
“Pudsey Diamond are an all-round great team to work with that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.”
